The LearningNet Administration Tool

| The administration tool was the best example of software design and development
from the LearningNet suite. It was mostly developed using a traditional waterfall
project model. The developer and I did UI requirements reviews, approved changes, allowed the
code to be written, did unit testing, and had limited changes to the final product.
The design of the product is basically a properties editing application. You add authors as users, modify the location of video and source files on the server, create permissions for folders, Create Categories for videos to appear under on the web site and so on. It is a Java application, I did successfully port it to a Macintosh JDK and it is a true client-server application, we expect it would have also run on Sun, but we did not test it. It was created with future enhancements to the JDK in mind, like drag and drop, and more intelligence in the back-end to actually remove some of the editing and administration work needed in this version. Enhancements planned for this product are rolled into the MediaPlatform project plan. |
