I see as navigation the number one interface challenge. In particular:
  • Providing focus + context views (reflecting the user's current location within the structure of a site).
  • Closer integration of hierarchical browsing, link following, and search facilities, and being able to easily move and switch between them.
A second issue is that of structuring a web site. I would like to see provision for explicit creation of (overlapping) hierarchies of information and tools for authors to support their creation.
A third challenge is the provision of links into and out of audio and film clips.
